Tonight I made a couple of tea towels with images that fit my family and home perfectly and in returned also inspired me to blog all about it.
This is beyond easy and obviously (since I did it) requires no sewing.
I used pre-washed flour sack towels, but I intend to use linen guest towels later. The flour sack towels are great for the kitchen and everyday use. I love them.
Once you have printed the image out on the transfer paper trim as close to the image as you can leaving a tiny white edge.
Position image on towel and iron according to the Avery directions. I use a classic iron, it's heavy and
has zero frills. Don't get the wrong idea, I am not ironing our clothes with this ten pound dinosaur, but it is perfect for this type of application. Again follow the directions on the Avery transfer paper, they are simple and the process is fast. Once you have completed the process to apply the transfer wait about two minutes before you remove the paper. You will then have your finished look. The towels can be cleaned like any others, throw in the machine and go.One of the towels I finished tonight. I can't wait to try it out on burlap, ticking and some other interesting materials. I would love to see any towels that you create. Enjoy.
Awesome idea!! You've unleashed my sleeping creativeness. Thanks!
